Piper Halliwell is the second daughter of a witch named Patty Halliwell and a mortal man named Victor Bennett, the younger sister of Prue Halliwell, the oldest sister of Phoebe Halliwell, the oldest maternal half-sister of Paige Matthews and Peyton Campbell, the wife of a former whitelighter named Leo Wyatt, the mother of Wyatt, Chris and Melinda Halliwell, the niece of Pamela and Rick O'Connell, the maternal cousin of Cassie O'Connell, the aunt of P.J, Parker, Penny and Philippa Halliwell, Tamora, Katherine and Henry Jr. Mitchell, Alexander Howard, Paisley, Persephone and Patrick Turner, the sister-in-law of Henry Mitchell, Coop Halliwell and Cole Turner, the granddaughter of Penelope and Allen Halliwell, the grandmother of Prudence Halliwell VI, Matthew Halliwell and nine more grandchildren.

Piper is described as the kindest, most caring, and maternal of the four sisters. Also, she can be very sarcastic and quick-witted. Over the years, Piper grew from the meek, shy, and very much arbiter middle sister, to a confident, charge-taking, quite comedic cynical woman. Piper was often described as the glue that holds the family together.

When it comes to magic, Piper hates the constant demonic attacks and her sacrifice of a normal life. However, Piper knew that being a witch was a part of who she was and came to cherish it in time. Realizing that she would not be able to save innocents without her powers, Piper accepted her destiny as a Charmed One.

Over the years Piper has been known to have a temper and it has been fairly evident on many occasions such as blowing up Leo. A notable moment was when she blew up her bedroom door after a heated argument. Gideon has even mentioned that her temper was worse when she was pregnant.

Appearance

Of all five sisters, Piper's appearance changes the least frequently and drastically. However, even these trivial changes reflect how her character changes...

• Hair: For her entire childhood and going into her twenties, Piper sports dark brown hair of modersportedngth and bangs. She lets her hair grow and gets a slightly lighter shade. Piper continued to grow her hair and got light brown highlights during her first pregnancy. The highlights wear off and she wears bangs again. Piper continues to grow her hair and has a loose curl on occasion. Piper lets her hair grow long and cuts it occasionally. In 2050, Piper still has long hair and it turns grey.
• Aliases: As the alias Jenny Bennett, Piper has blonde hair which is generally shorter than the hair of her normal appearance. Her second alias, Jamie Bennett has long brown hair with loose curls.
• Wardrobe: Her fashion sense was conservative during her early twenties. As she grows older she starts to wear more feminine clothes as well as hair gloves on occasion.
• Make-up: Piper wears little to no make-up. She keeps it clean and chooses colors that match her skin and lips closely. She only wears more make-up than usual for parties and other events.

Powers and Abilities

Active powers:

• Molecular Immobilization - The ability to slow down molecules to the point that they freeze. This power works on almost all objects and beings, except certain upper-level demons such as the Triad, and other good witches. This is Piper's primary power which she channels through her hands. 

• Channeling: the use of one's hands, usually by stretching forward one or both arms at the target and extending one's fingers. Piper was able to freeze two grimlocks by channeling her power through a plastic wand.
• Advanced Molecular Immobilization: The ability to freeze an entire city block, including the birds high up in the air. In the alternate future, they discovered that Piper's power had advanced. She was able to freeze an entire city block, including the birds high up in the air. Instead of a small group of people and objects, Piper was able to freeze "everything".

• Molecular Combustion - The ability to speed up molecules to the point that they explode. This power advanced so much that she could destroy upper-level demons. It is considered Piper's strongest and most frequently used power. 

• Deviation: The ability to manipulate your current magical power to deflect energies back in the direction they came from that are thrown in the targeted direction of the deviator. Piper is capable of this through the use of her molecular combustion power.
• Molecular Acceleration: The ability to reverberate molecules at a speed that causes them to rapidly heat up and sometimes become disordered; this can often result in either melting or ignition.

• Molecular Teleportation - the ability to teleport by disassembling molecules and reassembling them in another location.

Former Powers

• Wendigo Physiology - When Piper was transformed into a Wendigo, she gained all the physiology of one thanks to Agent Fallon. However, it was soon undone when Agent Fallon was defeated.
• Shapeshifting - As a Wendigo, she could shape-shift between her animal form and her human form.
• Power Granting: Should Piper ever scratch another, she could transform her victim into a Wendigo as well.
• Super Strength: Piper was stronger than the average human. 
• Sensing: As a wendigo, Piper could sense other beings, determining their location and status. 
• Immortality: As long as she was a Wendigo, Piper was immortal, meaning she could live for centuries.
• Telepathy: Piper gained the ability to read the minds of others when she and Prue cast a spell to hear secret thoughts. However, they reversed the spell. 
• Hyper Speed: Prue and Phoebe cast a hyper-speed awakening spell on Piper, causing her to go incredibly fast. 
• Possession of a Demon: Piper was temporarily possessed by Terra, but she lost these powers when Prue was forced to kill her by stabbing Piper in the heart. However, she was revived. 
• Energy Beam: While being possessed by Terra, a Life Essence, she could beam energy. 
• Resurrection: Piper was able to bring people back from the dead when she was possessed.  
• Warlock Physiology: When temporarily under the influence of Prue being married to Zile, a demon, Piper gains the abilities of a warlock.
• Blinking - Piper could blink and transport herself wherever she pleased. 
• Molecular Inhibition - When her powers were altered, instead of freezing time, Piper's power was manipulated to stop the movement of molecules and encase a being or object in ice. 
• Transformation: Piper gained this power as a warlock. She used it to transform a wedding planner into a pig and Leo literally into a stick in the mud. They later used it again to reverse those transformations
• Fury Physiology: Piper gained the powers of Smoking, Smoke Secretion, Power Granting, Super Strength, Audible Inundation, Immunity, and High Resistance when she was transformed into a Fury. However, as soon as she was brought to Prue's grave to confront her anger, the transformation of Piper was gone. 
• Self Healing: When Piper was pregnant with Wyatt, she was able to self-heal herself because of the baby's abilities. However, it vanished as soon as he was born.

Abilities

• Cooking Skills: Piper is proven to be a skilled chef, a talent that lends itself to her potion-making.
• Scientific Knowledge: After discovering the true nature of her powers, Piper has had extensive training in using her powers and related physics.
• Athleticism: Piper has shown impressive gymnastic and athletic ability.
• Experienced Combatant: Piper has had some training in hand-to-hand combat.

Weaknesses

• Distraction: Denying Piper from concentrating or giving full attention to her spells, may render them ineffective. Since most spells are spoken verbally and take time to take effect, she is vulnerable to attack before their completion. Additionally, certain periods require items, tools, and/or special events during casting, therefore they can't be invoked on a mere whim.
• Emotions: When emotionally distressed, Piper's supernatural powers will be affected and potentially weaken the collective magic of the Charmed Ones (The Power of Three). Her temporal stasis power, in particular, is triggered by fear and anxiety.
• Herbs: Ingestion of certain herbs can cause Piper to lose consciousness and prevent them from using magic for an undetermined amount of time. Being a descendant of the Homo magi, the Lobelia flower can temporarily neutralize Piper's magic and be used to weaken her as one would weaken a vampire with nightshade.
• Iron: As we all have human sorcerers, Piper's magical powers are blocked, or at the very least dampened when she is bound by iron. The Seer was able to restrain Piper using iron chains, though she was eventually able to escape the chains.
• Magic: While one of the most powerful witches in the world, Piper is still susceptible to the powers of magic. This is inclusive of mystical objects such as the Prism of Souls, Amulet of the Archangels, and Dark Objects.
• Mortality: Despite being a witch, Piper is still mortal and still has many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural humans (e.g. age, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.)
• Overexertion: Piper's reserves of magical energy accumulate if not used, but overuse can deplete them to the point that further use of them puts a considerable strain on her physical well-being, leaving her mystically debilitated for an extended period. As with other mages, the only way to restore their waning powers is an extended period of rest. Piper can sustain a "freeze" for approximately one hour before her mind begins to tire. She can also "freeze time" in rapid succession for about forty-five minutes before mental fatigue impairs her performance. The expenditure of bio-kinetic energy in the ways listed above continually for several hours will temporarily deplete Piper's physical strength. Still, she will rapidly return to normal after such lengthy energy expenditure is over.
• Speedsters: If an individual possesses enough super-accelerated motion, like the Flash, that person can potentially generate enough kinetic energy within themselves to bypass Piper's kinetic energy immobilization, only resulting in them being dramatically slowed down by a resulting kinetic energy deceleration before overcoming the effects completely.
• The Destruction of the Sisterhood: Despite the Power of Three or Four being one of her greatest strengths, it is also a burden. Being a Charmed One, she and her sisters are susceptible to the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction.
• Imbalance: If Piper and her sisters are in conflict with each other, the Power of Three or Four will be undone, as well as their power. However, if the sisters reconcile, their powers will be restored.

• Patty Halliwell: Patty was Piper's mother and they seem very close mother-daughter bond.

• Victor Bennett: Victor is Piper's father and they seem to have a very close father-daughter relationship unlike her oldest sister, Prue.

Siblings

• Prue Halliwell: Prue was Piper's oldest sister. Piper was "freakishly close" with her older sister, able to tell her everything. After Prue's death, Piper blames Leo for she healed the wrong sister because she healed her that she was his wife but Leo explains to her that Prue was already dead and she can't recover a dead.
• Phoebe Halliwell: Phoebe is Piper's youngest sister. After Prue dies, Piper and Phoebe have a falling out with Piper blaming Phoebe for going demon hunting and putting her life at risk. After they met Paige and became the Charmed Ones again, their relationship was restored.
• Paige Matthews: Paige is Piper's youngest maternal half-sister like Peyton. The two do not share as close a bond as they do with their younger sister Phoebe. It was hard for Piper after her older sister died to accept a new sister immediately. However, in general, they are very friendly and loyal to each other with Paige eventually realizing that Piper does accept her.
• Peyton Campbell: Peyton is Piper's youngest maternal half-sister. Piper saved Peyton from a demon attack after she saved Paige's life and also saved Phoebe's life when she became evil. The two share as close a bond as each other as she did share with Prue.

Children

• Wyatt Matthew Halliwell: Wyatt is Piper's eldest son. After many failed attempts, Piper managed to get pregnant. The pregnancy was not easy. Aside from the problems of a mortal pregnancy, Piper's powers became uncontrollable and she often burped orbs. This was all caused by the growing powers of the baby she was carrying, who also swapped the powers of his parents when they had a fight so that they could walk a mile in each other's shoes. Piper gave birth to her son, Wyatt Halliwell, on the dining room table on the same night. Wyatt came in a swirl of orbs, much to the surprise of everyone, because the family was under the impression that Piper and Leo's child would be a baby girl, and thus it was an even bigger surprise to see Mr. Winkie between the legs, as Phoebe had put it.
• Christopher Perry "Chris" Halliwell: Chris is Piper's second son after 1 year when Wyatt was born. Chris was conceived when Piper and Leo were trapped in Limbo by a Darklighter. Although she and Leo had no idea that future Chris was their son, Phoebe, and Paige both had already found out. They had kept it secret from Piper until they knew that she was finally pregnant. When they told Piper, the sisters decided to keep it secret from Leo who had gone up to the Heavens with the other Elders permanently. The birth, like Wyatt's, didn't go smoothly. The baby suffered from distress and had to be taken out immediately; during the birth, Piper lost a lot of blood and almost died, but the doctors saved her and Chris. Meanwhile, future Chris had died. He was killed by Gideon whilst protecting his brother Wyatt.
• Melinda Prudence "Mel" Halliwell: Mel is Piper's only daughter and youngest child after the Ultimate battle ends with Christy and Billie. Piper gave birth to her third and last child, Melinda Halliwell, the daughter she had always wanted.

Romantic Life

Leo Wyatt

Piper's longest and most permanent relationship was with Leo Wyatt. She met Leo for the first time when he came to the sisters as a handyman. While he actually served as the Charmed Ones' Whitelighter, Leo was forbidden to have any romantic relationships with his charges. Leo eventually revealed himself as the sisters' Whitelighter when he was shot by a Darklighter named Alec. When Leo was healed, he broke up with Piper so that he would not be punished for their relationship by his bosses.

The year afterward, Piper had a relationship with her next-door neighbor, Dan Gordon. However, Piper still had feelings for Leo, for which he kept fighting. Finally being able to win Piper for him, Leo took Piper to the Heavens to present her to his bosses. A month later the couple returned to earth, not noticing they had spent a month up there. It was revealed that they had to break up or else Leo would be reassigned to other witches. It was then that Leo proposed to Piper, saying that a marriage was the only way to be with each other as it could not be undone by the Elders.

After a long struggle, Piper was finally able to wed Leo through a Handfasting. Two years later, the couple was pregnant with their first child, Wyatt Halliwell. Not long after the birth of their first son, Leo became an Elder and was not allowed to stay on earth any longer. This caused Piper and Leo to break up and almost divorce.

During their time apart, they spend a brief, intimate moment in which they conceived their second son, Chris Halliwell. Not long after the birth of Chris, Piper let Leo back into her life and they became a couple again. A few months later, Leo fell from grace and became mortal.

Not a year later, Leo was taken by an Angel of Destiny. His death would give the sisters more strength to battle whomever they had to fight in the Ultimate Battle. During his absence, Piper began filming simple household chores and her sons playing with toys, so she could watch with Leo after he returned.

Eventually, when the Ultimate Battle was over, Leo was brought back to Piper and his sons. A year later, the couple welcomed their third child, and only daughter into the world, Melinda Halliwell.

In 2050, Piper and Leo are still together and living a happy, healthy life. They have nine grandchildren which they take care of when their parents are working or fighting evil.
