Last:
3x22; All Hell Breaks LoosePrudence "Prue" Halliwell, known as the Shadow Queen and former Charmed One. She was a spirit after she died but after she sacrificed her life again, she was reincarnated as Peyton and Cole's youngest and last daughter, Persephone Turner. Prue was the late sister of Piper and Phoebe Halliwell and the maternal half-sister of both Paige Matthews and Peyton Campbell.
Her Wiccan powers were focused on mind and movement: the ability to move objects with her mind, and the ability to project herself in an astral form. Besides this, Prue possessed the basic powers of a witch: the ability to cast spells, brew potions, and scry for lost objects or people. She could also access The Power of Three, the collective power of the Charmed Ones.
Prue worked as a successful photojournalist at 415 Magazine, a career she wanted to pursue since her youth, but had given up until being introduced to the world of magic made her realize that her dreams were worth fighting for.
Despite her formidable powers and sharp intellect, Prue was tragically murdered on May 17th, 2001, in her own home by The Source of All Evil's assassin, Shax, who temporarily severed The Power of Three altogether.
Ultimately, after her death, she became the Keeper to protect All Magic from evil beings.
Prue Halliwell's Death
On May 17, 2001, the eldest sister of Piper and Phoebe Halliwell, Charmed One Prue Halliwell was killed by the Source of All Evil's personal assassin, the demon Shax. Her death led to the discovery of a long lost, half-sister Paige Matthews - a Charmed sister.
Powers and Abilities
Current Powers:
As a Spirit:
- Wisping: The ability to teleport through wisping lights. When spirits are summoned, they may also teleport through the use of white orbs.
- Intangibility: The ability to be intangible and move through solid objects. Spirits are naturally intangible but can become able to become tangible and touch things when angered.
- Invisibility: The ability to be unseen by the naked eye. Spirits are naturally invisible to mortals, though magical beings can see them.
- Floating: The ability to float in the air a few inches above the ground. Some spirits are seen floating, while others are grounded and can walk.
- Possession: The ability to enter the body of another being and possess it.
- Electrokinesis: The ability to manipulate electricity and throw bolts of lightning. Elias Lundy was the only spirit to be shown using this power.
- Plasma Balls: The ability to throw balls of ectoplasmic energy, capable of vanquishing beings. Olivia Callaway was the only spirit to be shown using this power.
- Corporealization: The ability to assume a corporeal form. Some spirits are powerful enough to become corporeal. Summoned spirits can also become corporeal when stepping out of the circle they are summoned in.
- Spirit Writing: The ability to write messages from the afterlife through the use of orbs.
Other Powers
- Sensing: The ability to sense the location of other magical beings.
- Summoning: The ability to summon other beings to one's presence. Some spirits possess the ability to summon other Spirits to their side.
- Individual Powers: Spirits of magical beings retain their powers after death and can use them.
Previous Powers
- Telekinesis - The ability to move objects and beings with the mind. This was Prue's primary ability as a witch which she could channel with her eyes and later hands.
- Telekinetic Materialization - The ability to teleport anything with the power of your mind. It works very similarly to the power of Telekinetic Orbing, but this power is used without the appearance of orbs, which makes usage discreet. The power has a visual requirement, where users have to see the thing that they want to teleport and where they want to teleport.
- Deviation - The ability to use a power to deflect magical energies and objects back in the direction they came from. Prue was able to push attacks or powers back telekinetically.
- Enhanced Agility - The ability to enhance one's physical agility, speed, and balance. Prue achieves this ability through Telekinesis and can perform enhanced acrobatics.
- Super Strength - The power to exert a level of physical strength much more excellent than an average person. Prue demonstrated this several times beatingbeat enemies in close combat by combining her telekinetic power with her physical force.
- Astral Projection - The ability to project the consciousness in an astral form outside of the body. Prue developed this power in her second year of being a witch. She could not use Telekinesis during the projection. However, Prue did become capable of projecting her astral form from one place to another without returning to her physical body; in one case, dematerialized to avoid gunshots and then rematerialized at the other side of the room, and she still demonstrated the essential witch ability to cast spells.
Temporary Powers:
- Premonition - the ability to see and experience events from the past, present, and future.
- Touch of Death - the ability to kill victims through touch, although physical contact is not always required to activate it.
- Telepathy - the ability to read and broadcast the thoughts of oneself and others.
- Empathy - the ability to feel other emotions.
- Advanced Telekinesis - the ability to move objects over vast distances and move things of extreme weight.
- Augmentation - the ability to make the powers and abilities of oneself or another stronger.
Former Powers
- The Power of Three: The bond and connection between Prue and her sisters, known as the Charmed Ones, who are said to be the most powerful trio of witches. Prue and her sisters used their powers to protect innocent lives and vanquish demons, often invoking their joint "Power of Three" to defeat their enemies. Evidently, certain spells require the Power of Three and cannot be cast by even the most powerful witches. Following Prue's second and final death, she has forever lost the Power of Three.
- Resistance: Presumably through the Power of Three, the Charmed Ones can resist the effects of having their memory erased to a certain extent, allowing the memories to slowly bleed back through.
As a Warlock:
Blinking - the ability to transport oneself to a thought-of location or person in the "blink of an eye". This is a warlock's way of teleportation. Prue was married to a Warlock, causing her to become Evil but the warlock's death made her a witch again.
Aa The Guardian of All Magic:
- Hovering: The ability to rise in the air a few feet with or without the use of orbs.
- Teleportation: The movement of an object or elementary particles from one place to another, for example, going anywhere in the world, the universe, parallel planes, and time loops, even somewhere outside of time and space, more or less instantaneously, without having to physically travel through space.
- Sensing: The ability to determine the location and status of other beings by concentrating on them.
- Invisibility: The ability to make oneself unable to be seen by other beings. For certain species, being invisible is a natural state of being.
- Intangibility: The ability to alter one's molecular structure to a state that can pass through physical matter; rendering the user immune to many physical and magical attacks.
- Summoning: The ability to draw or transport a being or object to the user's presence no matter where they are.
As a Shadow Queen:
- Teleportation - The movement of objects or elementary particles from one place to another, more or less instantaneously, without traveling through space.
- Fireballs - The ability to generate balls of fire. Prue uses this power on Peyton but Piper blasts her back.
- Immortality - The ability to live forever without aging and be immune to all kinds of diseases.
- Energy Blast - The ability to blast kinetic energy from their hands, hitting a target with great concussive force. Prue used it to blow away her sisters.
- Shapeshifting: the ability to change from one physical form or shape into another. A natural part of Shapeshifting is Voice Manipulation, allowing users of this power to copy the voice of the form they assume.
- Illusions: Shadow Queen can create illusions.
- Voice Manipulation: the ability to control and manipulate your own speaking or singing voice.
Abilities:
- Antique Specialist: Prue was knowledgeable in antiques from ancient archaeology to a Yankee baseball card. She can examine an artifact and easily recognize it either as a real object or a fake.
- Fluency in Latin: Prue was fluent in the Latin language as she was able to decipher spells and quote many texts.
- Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Though it was not shown or revealed during her early years as a witch, Prue was formidably skilled in hand-to-hand combat, which came into play during her fights against Vinceres and, later, the Demonic Wrestlers, where she was shown to use her telekinetic powers to enhance her combat skills. Given how she was never shown taking martial arts classes on screen, and yet her combat skills were revealed to be far superior to those of Phoebe's (the only sister shown to have taken self-defense classes), it likely, that Prue had actually taken up martial arts long before she became a Charmed One, but only applied her combat skills once she had become fully comfortable with her powers.
Former Weaknesses:
- Imbalance: If Prue and her sisters are in conflict with each other, the Power of Three will be undone, as well as their power. However, if the sisters reconcile, their abilities will be restored.
- Mortality: Despite being a witch, Prue was still mortal and still had many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural humans (e.g. age, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.), until her death.
- The Destruction of the Sisterhood: Despite the Power of Three being one of her greatest strengths, it is also a burden. Being a Charmed One, she and her sisters are susceptible to the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction. Ultimately, Prue was tragically murdered on May 17, 2001, in her own home by the Source of All Evil's personal assassin, Shax, which temporarily severed The Power of Three altogether.
Trivia
- Prue was the only sister never seen as an old woman on the show. Piper was seen in Forever Charmed, Phoebe in The Three Faces of Phoebe, and Paige in Charrrmed!
- Prue Halliwell's birthdate is repeatedly shown to be October 28, 1970, throughout the show, and "1970" is even printed on her gravestone. However, her past life P. Bowen died in May 1971 according to the family tree, which should make Prue's birthdate impossible. The family tree is also shown to have many other continuity errors.
- Prue makes a physical appearance after dies in Cat House during two flashbacks. However, she only appears in her astral form in Just Harried and as a dog in Look Who's Barking; neither time featuring Shannen Doherty as the first one was only the back of a stunt double.
- According to Leo, when Prue sacrificed her life a second time to save the world from evil then she did not die but she was reincarnated, its meaning has been reborn into another body.
